RedBarn Furniture
At RedBarn we go out of our way to keep it real. Real wood. Real craftsmanship. Real value. Customized by you - lovingly built at the farm.
Once upon a time, high quality, real wood furniture, made by a craftsman, was a normal part of most homes. More times than not, the pieces were made locally, by the village or community furniture maker and friend, with lumber found just around the corner. These items were not just functional - they were creative, decorative, artistic, and they followed - and sometimes set - the trends of the day. Most families invested their money into pieces that were proudly handed down for generations, and they were so well made that they withstood everything those long years of use could throw at them.
Then something happened. To save a buck our furniture started being produced in factories, on assembly lines, by unskilled workers. Materials were sourced in far away places, and eventually, real wood was replaced with particle board and laminate - computer generated plastic designed to look like the real thing. We began to accept our furniture in flat boxes - unassembled, identical to the one next to it, and anything but durable. Nobody hands that stuff down to their kids because it probably won't last that long!
We say "Bring the real furniture back!"
We believe in locally sourcing our supplies and investing in our community's economy. We look at each individual piece of wood to decide what to enhance and how to bring out it's personality, then build each and every piece by hand, working with our customers to create the "perfect thing" for them. These are the pieces we play cards around with our kids and then grandkids, have coffee with the neighbor over, and store our best dishes in. These are the tables, consoles, benches, and beds that will weave themselves into setting of your family story and will proudly pass from generation to generation.
Furniture in a box? We say, "Get real."
